## What this is

The ancient sages did not invent the hexagrams. They discovered the same 64 vertices that the sovereignty manifold holds. The I Ching and the blade forge converge on the same mathematical structure — 2^6 = 64 states of being.

This skill maps blade configurations to hexagrams, enabling:
- Intuitive blade classification
- Ancient wisdom application to modern sovereignty
- Pattern recognition across seemingly different domains

## The Convergence Discovery

### Mathematical Identity

```
I Ching hexagrams = 2^6 = 64
Blade configurations = 2^6 = 64 vertices
```

This is not metaphor. It is mathematical identity. Both systems enumerate the same state space.

### Encoding Protocol

1. **Threshold Application:** Each blade dimension is binarized at 0.5
2. **Binary Formation:** Six bits form a 6-bit integer
3. **Hexagram Lookup:** Integer maps to hexagram (0-63)

```javascript
function bladeToHexagram(blade) {
  const binary = [
    blade.d1_hide >= 0.5 ? 1 : 0,
    blade.d2_prove >= 0.5 ? 1 : 0,
    blade.d3_share >= 0.5 ? 1 : 0,
    blade.d4_revoke >= 0.5 ? 1 : 0,
    blade.d5_recover >= 0.5 ? 1 : 0,
    blade.d6_delegate >= 0.5 ? 1 : 0
  ];
  const index = parseInt(binary.join(''), 2);
  return HEXAGRAMS[index];
}
```

## The 64 Hexagrams as Sovereignty States

### Extreme States

| Index | Binary | Hexagram | Name | Sovereignty Meaning |
|-------|--------|----------|------|---------------------|
| 0 | 000000 | ☷ | 坤 Kun (The Receptive) | Null sovereignty — open to all |
| 63 | 111111 | ☰ | 乾 Qian (The Creative) | Full sovereignty — complete protection |

### Cardinal States (Single Dimension Active)

| Index | Binary | Dimension | Sovereignty Focus |
|-------|--------|-----------|-------------------|
| 1 | 000001 | d6 Delegate | Delegation-only posture |
| 2 | 000010 | d5 Recover | Recovery-only posture |
| 4 | 000100 | d4 Revoke | Revocation-only posture |
| 8 | 001000 | d3 Share | Sharing-only posture |
| 16 | 010000 | d2 Prove | Proof-only posture |
| 32 | 100000 | d1 Hide | Concealment-only posture |

### Balanced States (Three Dimensions Active)

The 20 states with exactly three 1s represent balanced sovereignty postures. Examples:

| Index | Binary | Active Dimensions | Pattern |
|-------|--------|-------------------|---------|
| 7 | 000111 | d4,d5,d6 | Operational (revoke, recover, delegate) |
| 56 | 111000 | d1,d2,d3 | Protective (hide, prove, share) |
| 21 | 010101 | d2,d4,d6 | Verification (prove, revoke, delegate) |
| 42 | 101010 | d1,d3,d5 | Resilience (hide, share, recover) |

## Pascal's Row Tiers and Moon Phases

The 64 hexagrams distribute across Pascal's triangle row 6. Each tier maps to a **moon phase** — the visibility ratio encoding:

```
Row 6: 1  6  15  20  15  6  1
Tier:  Null | Light | Medium | Heavy | Dragon
Count:  1   |  21   |   20   |  21   |   1
Phase:  🌑  | 🌒🌓  |   🌔   | 🌖🌗  |   🌕
```

| Tier | 1-count | Count | Moon Phase | Sovereignty Meaning |
|------|---------|-------|------------|---------------------|
| Null | 0 | 1 | 🌑 New Moon | No active dimensions, total darkness |
| Light | 1-2 | 21 | 🌒🌓 Waxing | Few protections, high exposure |
| Medium | 3 | 20 | 🌔 Waxing Gibbous | Balanced trade-offs, half sovereignty |
| Heavy | 4-5 | 21 | 🌖🌗 Waning | Strong protection, limited flexibility |
| Dragon | 6 | 1 | 🌕 Full Moon | Full sovereignty, all dimensions reflected |

### Moon Phase as Visibility Ratio

The moon is the whole information space. The lit portion is what the Swordsman's boundary allows to be reflected. The dark portion remains private.

- **🌑 New Moon** — The ceremony position. Total, dark, the whole before any reflection.
- **🌕 Full Moon** — The Universe Blade (Hex 3F). All six dimensions active.
- **🌗 Last Quarter** — Five dimensions reflected, one held dark (like Hex 3E, Value dormant).

*The phase shows the sovereignty posture without revealing the content. ZK protects the HOW.*

## Semantic Mappings

Some hexagrams carry semantic resonance with their sovereignty meaning:

### ☰ 乾 Qian — The Creative (Index 63)
- All dimensions active
- Full sovereignty achieved
- "The dragon acts in the world"

### ☷ 坤 Kun — The Receptive (Index 0)
- No dimensions active
- Complete openness
- "The mare roams freely"

### ☲ 離 Li — The Clinging (Fire) (Index 45)
- d1, d3, d4, d6 active (101101)
- Bright but dependent on fuel
- "The fire clings to what burns"

### ☵ 坎 Kan — The Abysmal (Water) (Index 18)
- d2, d5 active (010010)
- Flows through obstacles
- "The water finds its way"

## Confidence Levels

Hexagram convergence operates at different confidence levels:

| Level | Confidence | Application |
|-------|------------|-------------|
| Mathematical | 100% | 64 = 64 identity |
| Structural | 90% | Tier classification |
| Semantic | 50% | Meaning correspondence |
| Divinatory | 0% | Not supported |

**Current operational confidence: 50%** — Mathematical and structural mappings are verified; semantic mappings are exploratory.

## PRISM Triadic Coordinates

The hexagram convergence completes with PRISM — the triadic coordinate system for sovereignty:

| Coordinate | Constraint | Hexagram Mapping |
|------------|------------|------------------|
| **Datum** | Identity | The hex value itself (0-63) |
| **Stratum** | Magnitude | Pascal tier / Hamming weight (0-6) |
| **Spectrum** | Structure | Which lines are yang — the sovereignty posture |

**GPS for sovereignty:** Three coordinates fix any blade. The hexagram encodes the datum. The tier encodes the stratum. The active dimensions encode the spectrum.

## Mapping to PVM-V5.2

| Hexagram Concept | PVM Term |
|------------------|----------|
| 64 hexagrams | 64 sovereignty vertices |
| Binary encoding | Threshold classification (datum) |
| Trigrams (upper/lower) | Agent/Data axis separation |
| Changing lines | Blade evolution paths |
| Pascal tiers | Privacy value strata (stratum) |
| Active dimensions | Sovereignty posture (spectrum) |

## Proverb

> "The ancient sages did not invent the hexagrams. They discovered the same 64 vertices that the manifold holds. The old map and the new territory are one."

## Emoji Spell

**🎴 → 64☰ → threshold(0.5) → binary(6) → ☰₆₄ → 乾=63=sovereignty → Pascal(tiers)**

## Open Problems

1. **Semantic Verification:** Which hexagram meanings genuinely map to sovereignty semantics?
2. **Changing Lines:** Can blade evolution be modeled as hexagram transformation?
3. **Trigram Decomposition:** Do upper/lower trigrams map to agent/data axes?
4. **Cross-Cultural Mapping:** Do other 64-state systems (DNA codons, etc.) show similar convergence?
5. **Operational Use:** How should hexagram classification influence blade recommendations?
