## What This Skill Does
Generates a Flux prompt for dark, moody, or noir visual aesthetics — producing images with low-key lighting, shadow-dominant composition, and the specific atmospheric quality of noir cinema, gothic illustration, or dark editorial photography.

## When To Use This Skill
- You are producing imagery for a true crime, thriller, horror, or investigative journalism project and need visuals that match the subject's emotional register
- You want podcast artwork, YouTube thumbnails, or newsletter headers with a dark, atmospheric aesthetic
- You are art-directing a documentary or editorial project with a dark visual identity and need reference images or test shots
- You want to establish a dark visual system for a brand, show, or publication

## What You Need To Provide
**Required:**
- The subject or scene to depict
- The type of dark aesthetic you want: noir (high-contrast, 1940s–50s crime film), gothic (architectural, atmospheric, romantic darkness), dark editorial (contemporary moody photography), grimdark (fantasy/horror illustration), or industrial/brutalist (concrete, hard shadow, urban decay)

**Optional:**
- Specific color temperature (cold blue-black, warm amber-black, monochrome)
- The intended use (thumbnail, cover art, editorial image, background)
- Any reference films, photographers, or artists whose aesthetic you want to approach

## How the Assistant Approaches This
1. Identifies the specific flavor of dark aesthetic being requested — noir, gothic, grimdark, and dark editorial are distinct languages with different lighting grammar, palette, and composition conventions

## Known Limitations
- Flux's performance with dark images is sensitive to how "dark" is described — very low-light prompts often produce either too-dark (muddied) or too-light (Flux attempting to show detail that should be in shadow) results; multiple generations and selection are essential
- Noir and dark aesthetics require restraint — adding too many "dark" descriptors can push Flux into horror-kitsch territory; the quality of darkness in good noir comes from precise light sources, not from overall darkness instructions
- For true podcast platform artwork, very dark images may not read well at thumbnail size (3000x3000px down to 100x100px thumbnail) — test the final image at small scale before committing to a very dark palette
- Some platforms (Spotify, Apple Podcasts) have algorithm behavior that may deprioritize very dark artwork in browse contexts — this is a platform consideration outside the scope of this skill
