# Emergency Equipment Required Hazmat

Hazmat vehicles require specialized emergency equipment beyond standard CMV.

## Fire extinguisher
- Standard CMV: 5BC minimum (49 CFR 393.95)
- Hazmat: 10BC minimum, charged + serviced annually
- Bulk flammable: dry chemical or AFFF foam

## Spill kit
- Material-specific: liquid absorbent (universal or class-specific)
- Class 8 corrosive: neutralizing agent
- Plastic shovel + bag for containment

## PPE
- Chemical-resistant gloves
- Eye protection
- Respirator (class-specific)
- Full hazmat suit for high-risk materials

## Reflective triangles / flares
Class 1 explosives: triangles only (no flares — fire hazard)
