Designs a personal habit stack — new behaviours anchored to existing reliable cues — using *Atomic Habits* (Clear) and BJ Fogg's Tiny Habits methodology. Outputs a stack diagram, a paper or app tracker spec, a friction-design checklist, and a planned response for the 5 most likely failure modes.

Use this skill when:

- You want to install 2–4 new habits without willpower overload
- A previous attempt collapsed within two weeks and you want to know why
- A life change (new role, new baby, new city) has broken existing routines and you need to rebuild
- You're chaining health, productivity, and admin habits and want them to reinforce — not compete with — each other

The output is designed to be printable on one A4 page and pinned next to where the stack will run (kitchen, desk, bathroom mirror).

### Phase 1: Context Intake

#### Objective
Collect the minimum context to design a stack the user will actually run. Use `AskUserQuestion` for missing info — do not free-text prompt.

#### Steps
1. Ask (or confirm from arguments):
   - **Anchor routines** — what does the user reliably do every day already? (morning coffee, school drop-off, evening shower, etc.)
   - **Target identity** — who is the user trying to *be*, not just what to do? ("a person who reads daily", "a calm parent", "a strong 50-year-old")
   - **Habits attempted before** — which habits has the user tried and dropped? Why did they drop?
   - **Accountability style** — internal (self-tracking) / external (partner, coach) / public (social)?
   - **Environmental constraints** — small apartment? shared kitchen? travels weekly? children under 5?
2. Identify the user's "keystone moment" — the most reliable existing anchor that other habits can be chained off (usually morning coffee, post-shower, or end-of-workday).

#### Output
Confirmed list of 2–3 candidate anchors + target identity statement + known failure modes.

### Phase 2: Habit Selection

#### Objective
Choose 2–4 habits that ladder up to the identity. More than 4 will collapse.

#### Steps
1. Translate the identity into 2–4 behaviours scored against the **Tiny Habits matrix** (see `reference.md`):
   - High motivation, low ability → make smaller
   - High ability, low motivation → make more visible / add reward
2. For each habit, define the **minimum viable version** — the version that takes < 2 minutes. "Read one page" not "read for 30 minutes."
3. Score each habit's **identity-fit** (1–5) and **friction** (1–5). Drop anything with friction > 3 unless it's the keystone.

#### Output
Final shortlist of 2–4 habits with minimum-viable versions.

### Phase 3: Stack Design

#### Objective
Chain each habit onto an anchor using the implementation-intention formula: *"After [anchor], I will [habit] at [location]."*

#### Steps
1. For each habit, write the implementation intention with explicit anchor + location + (where useful) time.
2. Design the **cue** (environmental trigger), **response** (the habit), and **reward** (immediate, ideally intrinsic — checkmark, sip of coffee, "done" out loud).
3. Sequence the stack: easiest → hardest (or hardest → easiest if the user reports decision-fatigue late in the day).
4. Specify the **friction-design**: what is removed (TV remote in drawer, phone in another room, shoes by the door) and what is added (book on pillow, water bottle on desk).

#### Output
The full stack written as a numbered list of implementation intentions + a Mermaid flow diagram.

### Phase 4: Tracker + Accountability

#### Objective
Make the stack visible and the streak measurable.

#### Steps
1. Recommend tracker format based on the accountability style from Phase 1:
   - Internal → paper habit-tracker grid (one row per habit, one column per day, X over completed cells)
   - External → shared spreadsheet / weekly text to accountability partner
   - Public → Instagram-style streak post, or a public commitment with a financial stake (e.g. forfeit)
2. Define the **streak rule**: never miss twice. One miss is normal; two in a row is the failure mode that ends habits.
3. Specify the **review cadence**: end-of-day glance (30s), end-of-week review (5 min), end-of-month redesign (15 min).

#### Output
Tracker spec + streak rule + review cadence.

### Phase 5: 8-Week Ramp + Failure Modes

#### Objective
Plan the build-up curve and pre-design the response to the 5 most likely collapses.

#### Steps
1. Build the **8-week ramp**:
   - Weeks 1–2: minimum-viable only. Streak focus.
   - Weeks 3–4: scale duration / intensity by 25%.
   - Weeks 5–6: layer in the second & third habits if not yet active.
   - Weeks 7–8: full intensity. First monthly review at end of week 8.
2. Identify the **top 5 failure modes** for this user from their attempt history (Phase 1). Common patterns: weekend break, travel disruption, illness, family event, emotional spike. For each, prescribe the *recovery move* — usually the absolute-minimum-viable version of the keystone habit, not the full stack.
3. Write the **identity statement** to be read aloud on day 1 and at each monthly review.

#### Output
8-week ramp calendar + failure-mode response table + identity statement.

## Behavioural Rules

1. **Never prescribe more than 4 habits.** A stack of 5+ is a wish list; it will collapse.
2. **Always anchor to an existing reliable routine.** Floating habits ("at some point in the morning") fail.
3. **Minimum-viable first.** Every habit has a < 2-minute version. Scaling up is Phase 5, not Phase 1.
4. **Never miss twice.** Surface this rule explicitly. One miss is recovery; two is restart.
5. **Friction design is not optional.** Every habit gets at least one "remove" and one "add" in the environment.
6. **Identity over outcome.** Frame the stack around "becoming the kind of person who…" not "achieving X by date Y."
7. **No willpower language.** Never use "be disciplined", "push through", "stay motivated". Design the environment instead.
8. **Australian context.** Australian English; reference relevant local apps (Streaks, Habitica, Notion) where helpful.

## Edge Cases

1. **No reliable existing routines** — Build a single keystone first (typically morning coffee or evening shower) before any stack. Output a "pre-stack" plan instead.
2. **History of all-or-nothing perfectionism** — Cap the stack at 2 habits and triple the emphasis on the never-miss-twice rule. Set up a "B-day" version of each habit at 30% intensity.
3. **Travel-heavy user** — Design a *portable* keystone (e.g. journalling, body-weight movement) and accept that stack-dependent habits pause during travel weeks.
4. **Child-of-young-kids constraint** — Anchor to *their* routines (after school drop-off, during their bath, after their bedtime). Treat naptime as the only protected adult slot.
5. **Returning from a long break / illness** — Restart at 50% of previous minimum-viable, even if it feels insulting. Restart-fatigue is the #1 reason people don't resume.
6. **Conflicting habits** — If two habits compete for the same time slot, sequence them or move one. Never run two competing habits in the same anchor.
7. **No accountability partner available** — Default to internal tracking + monthly self-review. Do not force public commitment if the user has shame around past failures.
