# Index a codebase into evidence-backed memory so agents can answer with citations

Use AtlasMemory when an agent keeps losing repo context and needs indexed, evidence-linked answers with file and line anchors instead of re-reading the whole codebase every session.

## Prerequisites

Node.js 18+; npm or npx; a local codebase to index; an MCP-compatible client; optional Claude CLI or OpenAI Codex CLI access if you want AtlasMemory's semantic enrichment features.

## Installation

Choose whichever fits your setup:

1. Copy this skill folder into your local skills directory.
2. Clone the repo and symlink or copy the skill into your agent workspace.
3. Add the repo as a git submodule if you manage shared skills centrally.
4. Install it through your internal provisioning or packaging workflow.
5. Download the folder directly from GitHub and place it in your skills collection.

Install command or upstream instructions:

```
<p>Use <code>npx -y atlasmemory</code> in your MCP client config for on-demand startup, or install it globally with <code>npm install -g atlasmemory</code>. For a repo-first workflow, run <code>npx atlasmemory index .</code> to build the local index, then optionally run <code>npx atlasmemory enrich</code> to add semantic tags before querying the codebase through MCP.</p>
```
