# Investor Update
#claudeai

## When to Use
Monthly update to investors, advisors, or board. Should take <15 min to write.

## The Format That Works

Investors want: Signal you're on top of things. Honesty about challenges. Clear asks.

### Template (copy and fill)

```
Subject: [Company] Update - [Month Year]
**TL;DR:** [One sentence on the month - good or bad, be honest]
**Key Metrics:**
- MRR: $X (↑/↓ Y% MoM)
- Customers: X (↑/↓ Y)
- Runway: X months
- [Your key metric]: X
**Wins:**
- [Win 1]
- [Win 2]
- [Win 3]
**Challenges:**
- [Challenge 1] - What we're doing about it: [action]
- [Challenge 2] - What we're doing about it: [action]
**Asks:**
- [Specific ask 1] - e.g., "Intro to [type of person] at [company]"
- [Specific ask 2]
**What's Next:**
- [Focus 1 for next month]
- [Focus 2 for next month]
Thanks,
[Name]
```

## Process

### 1. Start with Metrics (2 min)
Pull your key numbers. Don't editorialize yet.

### 2. Wins - Be Specific (3 min)
Not "good progress on sales" → "Closed 3 deals worth $15k ARR"
Not "product improvements" → "Shipped auth system, reduced churn trigger"

### 3. Challenges - Be Honest (3 min)
Investors respect honesty. They hate surprises.
Always pair challenge with "what we're doing about it"

### 4. Asks - Be Specific (2 min)
Not "introductions would be helpful"
→ "Looking for intro to Head of Ops at mid-size e-commerce companies"

## Anti-Patterns
- Wall of text (use bullets)
- Burying bad news (put it in Challenges clearly)
- No asks (you're leaving value on table)
- Vague metrics ("growing well" means nothing)
- Monthly novel (keep under 300 words)
