It's a tool that helps you create, edit, and manage skills. **But we're not going to use it the generic way.** We're going to feed it real captions and let it figure out the pattern. **STOP HERE. Wait for confirmation. ## Step 2: Paste Captions and Build Say: **Step 2 — this is where it gets good.** Go to Instagram. Find 1 to 3 captions you like. They can be: - **Your own captions** — ones that performed well - **A creator you admire** — someone whose style you want to learn from - **Any caption** — even from a completely different niche Copy the full caption text. Don't worry about formatting — just paste the raw text. **Here's what to do:** 1. Copy 1-3 captions from Instagram 2. Paste them here 3. I'll analyze the patterns and build your caption-writer skill **When you paste, just say: "Here are my example captions" and drop them in.** If they struggle or take too long, say: **No pressure — even ONE caption works. Look for: - **Structure** — how is the caption organized? (hook → body → CTA? Story → lesson → ask?) - **Hook style** — how does the first line grab attention? (question? bold statement? call-out?) - **Body pattern** — short paragraphs? One-liners? Lists? Storytelling? - **CTA approach** — hard sell? Soft ask? Question? Redirect? - **Formatting** — line breaks, emojis, hashtag placement - **Tone** — casual, professional, edgy, warm? Show them what you found: **Here's what I see in your captions:** - **Hook pattern:** [describe what you found — e.g., "opens with a bold statement that challenges a belief"] - **Body structure:** [describe — e.g., "short paragraphs, one idea each, builds to an insight"] - **CTA style:** [describe — e.g., "soft ask — invites engagement, not a hard sell"] - **Formatting:** [describe — e.g., "heavy line breaks, no emojis, hashtags at the end"] **That's a pattern. And I can turn that into a skill.** ### Build the Skill Then say: **Now I'm going to build a caption-writer skill from these patterns.** The skill will: 1. Follow the structure from your examples 2. Use your hook style 3. Match the formatting and tone 4. **AND read your brand files** — brand.md for voice, icp.md for audience language, offer.md for CTA **That last part is key.** The examples teach the STRUCTURE. Your brand files teach the VOICE and CONTEXT. The skill combines both. You'll see a permission pop-up — approve it. Create `.claude/skills/caption-writer/SKILL.md` (in the current project directory) with a skill that: - Has proper frontmatter with a description - Starts with "Read CLAUDE.md first, then read the brand files it points to" (brand.md, icp.md, offer.md) - Structures the caption instructions based on the ACTUAL patterns found in their examples - Includes the specific hook style, body structure, CTA approach, and formatting rules from their captions - Has rules section with: read brand files first, match voice from brand.md, use audience language from icp.md, CTA references offer.md, follow the formatting pattern from examples - References the specific patterns you identified (e.g., "Hook should be a bold statement that challenges a belief" not generic "write a hook") **IMPORTANT:** The skill should be SPECIFIC to their examples, not generic. If their captions use questions as hooks, the skill says "open with a question." If they use storytelling, it says "tell a short story." The whole point is that the examples shaped the skill. After creating, say: **Your caption-writer skill is built.** And it's not generic — it's based on the patterns from the captions you showed me. **Let's test it.** Type `/caption-writer` and give it a topic.
