# Email Marketing Audit

Audit an email for subject line, preview, personalization, CTA, deliverability
and spam-risk. Produces a **0-100 score**, an **A-F grade**, and
**prioritized recommendations**.

## Prerequisites

```bash
pip install -r requirements.txt
```

(Or, if the repo is installed as a package: `pip install -e .`)

## Procedure

1. **Format the email** with a `Subject:` line on its own line, then the body:

   ```
   Subject: Save 30% on your next order today
   Hi there, your exclusive discount is waiting. Claim it now.
   Unsubscribe anytime.
   ```

2. **Run the audit:**

   ```bash
   python -m marketing_kit.cli email --file email.txt --format json
   ```

3. **Read the output.** `details` shows `subject`, `subject_length`,
   `subject_power_words`, `cta_signals`, `has_unsubscribe`,
   `body_personalization`, `spam_word_hits`, and `all_caps_ratio`.

4. **Summarize for the user**, ranked highest-severity first:
   - Subject length and hook strength (30-50 characters is ideal).
   - Whether the body has one clear CTA.
   - Whether an unsubscribe link is present (legally required).
   - Spam-trigger words or ALL CAPS that hurt deliverability.

5. **Offer to rewrite:**
   - Tighten the subject line to a specific, personal hook.
   - Add one primary CTA and remove spam-trigger phrasing.

6. **Re-run the audit** after changes to confirm the score improved.

## Notes

- A missing unsubscribe link is flagged as a legal/compliance warning
  (CAN-SPAM and GDPR).
- For the CTA wording itself, pair with `marketing-copy`.
