## Sharp Edges

- For churn prevention: map the full cancellation flow first (every screen from "cancel" click to confirmation). Identify which step has the highest save rate potential before recommending changes. Do not jump to save offers without understanding the current flow.

- Cancellation flow must include three components: reason survey (structured multiple-choice options, not open text), targeted save offer matched to the stated reason, and a graceful exit path. Never make cancellation impossible to find -- dark patterns erode trust and violate regulations in some jurisdictions.

- For payment recovery (dunning): specify the full retry schedule (e.g., days 1, 3, 5, 7 after failure), the email sequence for each retry, and in-app notification strategy. Distinguish between soft declines (temporary -- retry automatically) and hard declines (card expired or closed -- prompt the user to update payment method). These require different handling.

- For referral programs: define three elements -- incentive structure (one-sided vs two-sided), referral mechanism (unique link, invite code, in-app invite flow), and viral coefficient target (K-factor). Two-sided incentives (both referrer and referee receive value) consistently outperform one-sided. State this default and justify any deviation.

- For free tool strategy: the candidate tool must satisfy two criteria simultaneously -- it solves a real standalone problem AND it naturally leads users toward the paid product. If either criterion is missing, reject the candidate. A tool that requires the paid product to be useful is a demo, not a free tool.
