# Brandmark Platform Help

Brandmark (brandmark.io) is an **AI logo maker and brand-identity generator** by Jack Qiao — the **paid
sister tool Namelix funnels into**. You give it a business name + industry, it generates **logo concepts**
you refine in an in-browser editor, then packages a **brand kit** (business cards, social graphics, a
one-page website, brand guidelines). It's the **branding step** for founders and makers who've named a
product and want a logo without hiring a designer — **generating/previewing is free; downloading the
files is a one-time paid purchase**, and **there's no public API** (it's a UI tool).

## Step 1 — Gather context

If `references/learnings.md` exists, read it first for accumulated platform knowledge.

Ask only what you can't infer:

1. **What do you want from Brandmark?**
   - A) Get a better logo/brand kit out of it (concepts, editing, exports)
   - B) Understand what's free to preview vs paid to download, and which tier to buy
   - C) Decide if you can legally own/trademark an AI-generated logo
   - D) Automate logo generation from a script (there's no API — see Step 4)
2. **Have you locked the name yet?** A logo is downstream of the name (and the name is downstream of a
   validated idea).

Skip-ahead: if the user actually needs a *name* (not a logo), that's `/sales-namelix`; if they want the
validate-before-building *method* or a branding-tool comparison, that's `/sales-idea-validation` —
route in Step 2.

## Step 2 — Route or answer directly

| If the user's question is about… | Route to |
|---|---|
| Generating the **business name** itself (not the logo) | `/sales-namelix {question}` |
| The validate-before-building **method**, or comparing branding/logo tools across the market | `/sales-idea-validation {question}` |
| Building the **landing page** / smoke test under the new brand | `/sales-funnel {question}` |

When routing, give the exact command: "This is a {domain} question — run: `/sales-namelix {original question}`"

Otherwise, answer Brandmark-specific questions using Step 3.

## Step 3 — Brandmark platform reference

**Read `references/platform-guide.md`** for the full reference — the logo-generation → edit → brand-kit
workflow, the three one-time tiers and exactly what each includes, the free-preview vs paid-download
boundary, export formats (SVG/PNG/PDF), the copyright/commercial-license terms and their trademark
limits, the "not editable after purchase" reality, and the no-public-API automation truth.

Answer using only the relevant section — don't dump the full reference.

## Step 4 — Actionable guidance

- **Buy the smallest tier that covers your immediate need, and upgrade later.** The tiers differ by
*scope*, not just price: **Basic (~$35)** = the logo in PNG + vector only; **Designer (~$95)** = the
full brand kit (business cards, social graphics, one-page site, brand guidelines) + unlimited
revisions; **Enterprise (~$195)** = Designer plus up to 10 original hand-crafted concepts and the font
download. If someone just needs the logo files right now, tell them **Basic**, and upgrade if the brand
sticks. Present every figure as **best-effort one-time pricing — confirm on brandmark.io**.
- **Generating is free; downloading is the paywall — set that expectation up front.** You can generate
and preview unlimited logos with no account, but the on-screen preview is **not** a usable file —
**downloading the actual assets requires payment**. Don't let a user assume the free preview means they
  already "have" the logo.
- **Lock the name (and validate the idea) before you pay for a logo.** A logo is downstream: validate
demand first (`/sales-idea-validation`), settle the name (`/sales-namelix`), *then* buy a logo — never
pay for branding on a name you might still change.
- **"Full copyright" ≠ a registered trademark — do your own clearance.** Brandmark grants commercial-use
copyright with purchase, but an **AI-generated logo can be hard to register as a trademark** (others can
generate visually similar marks; some jurisdictions question authorship of AI output). Tell users to run
a **USPTO/EUIPO trademark search** and check it's distinctive before relying on it as a legal mark.
- **Save every downloaded file and keep the receipt — editing happens only inside Brandmark.** After
purchase you edit the logo in **Brandmark's own editor** (revisions are unlimited on Designer+), but the
delivered files may **not be freely re-editable** in outside vector software the way buyers expect, and
access depends on staying signed in to the same account. Download and back up the SVG/PNG/PDF locally,
and keep the purchase receipt — **support is email-only and can be slow**.
- **Don't plan an integration around it — there's no public API.** If asked to automate logo generation,
say plainly there's **no documented public API, no webhooks, and no Zapier/Make/MCP**. For programmatic
logo/image generation at volume, use an image-generation service that offers a documented API; reserve
  Brandmark for **interactive, human-in-the-loop** branding.

If you discover a gotcha or tip not in `references/learnings.md`, append it there with today's date.

## Gotchas

*Best-effort from research (2026-07) — pricing, tiers, and terms move; verify at brandmark.io.*

- **Generating is free; the download is the monetization.** Unlimited free generation/preview with no
account — Brandmark makes money when you **pay once to download** the files. A preview is not a file.
- **Three one-time tiers, differing by scope:** Basic (~$35, logo PNG + vector), Designer (~$95, full
brand kit + unlimited revisions), Enterprise (~$195, + up to 10 original concepts + font). No
  subscription. Confirm current pricing on-site.
- **"Not editable after purchase" is the #1 complaint.** Buyers expect a fully editable source file and
find edits are confined to Brandmark's editor. Set expectations and back up every downloaded asset.
- **Access can break and support is slow.** Reviews report being unable to reach purchased files and
getting no support reply (Trustpilot ~2.7★). Save downloads locally and keep the receipt.
- **No public API / no webhooks / no Zapier / no MCP.** It's entirely a UI tool — you cannot automate
logo generation. Don't design a pipeline around it.
- **Copyright included, but not a cleared trademark.** Commercial-use rights come with purchase; an
AI-generated logo may still be hard to trademark — run your own USPTO/EUIPO clearance.
- **Namelix (namelix.com) is the naming step, Brandmark is the logo step.** Same maker (Jack Qiao),
separate paid product — don't conflate them.

## Examples

### Example 1: "Which package do I actually need?"
**User says**: "I generated a logo I like on Brandmark — I just need the logo files for now. Which package should I pay for?"
**Skill does**: Distinguishes the tiers by scope — **Basic (~$35)** for the logo in PNG + vector only,
**Designer (~$95)** for the full brand kit + unlimited revisions, **Enterprise (~$195)** for original
hand-crafted concepts + font — recommends buying **Basic** for a logo-only need and upgrading later, and
flags all pricing as best-effort one-time (confirm on-site).
**Result**: The founder buys the smallest tier that covers the immediate need instead of overpaying.

### Example 2: "Can I automate logos via the API?" (developer/automation)
**User says**: "How do I use the Brandmark API to auto-generate logos for 50 client brands from a script?"
**Skill does**: States plainly Brandmark has **no public/documented API, no webhooks, and no Zapier/MCP** —
it's a human-in-the-loop UI tool — and suggests, for programmatic logo/image generation at volume, an
image-generation service with a documented API rather than trying to script Brandmark; does not invent
endpoints.
**Result**: The user avoids building on a nonexistent API and picks a workable path.

### Example 3: "I paid but I can't edit / find my logo"
**User says**: "I bought the Brandmark Designer package but now I can't edit my logo and can't find my files — is this normal?"
**Skill does**: Explains editing happens **inside Brandmark's editor** (unlimited revisions on Designer),
that delivered files may not be freely re-editable in outside software and access depends on staying
signed in, advises **re-downloading and backing up** the SVG/PNG/PDF and keeping the receipt, and notes
**support is email-only and can be slow** so self-serve backup matters.
**Result**: The user recovers/backs up their assets and has realistic expectations about editability.

## Troubleshooting

### "I paid but my logo isn't editable / I can't access my files"
**Symptom**: After buying, the buyer can't re-edit the logo in outside software or can't reach the files.
**Cause**: Editing is confined to Brandmark's own editor; file access depends on the tier and staying
signed in to the purchasing account. This is the platform's most common complaint.
**Solution**: Edit within Brandmark (unlimited revisions on Designer+), then **download and back up** the
SVG/PNG/PDF locally. Keep the purchase receipt. Support is **email-only and can be slow** — don't rely on
being able to re-fetch files later; save everything on purchase.

### "Why is it asking me to pay — I thought it was free?"
**Symptom**: Generating logos was free, but downloading asks for payment.
**Cause**: Generation and preview are free with no account; **downloading the usable files is the paid
step** (one-time). A preview is not a deliverable file.
**Solution**: Finalize the logo in the free preview, then buy the **smallest tier** that covers what you
need (Basic for logo files; Designer for the brand kit). Confirm current pricing on brandmark.io.

### "Is there an API to generate logos in bulk?"
**Symptom**: Can't find API docs to script logo creation.
**Cause**: Brandmark has **no official public API, webhooks, or iPaaS** — it's a UI tool.
**Solution**: Don't build automation on it. For programmatic logo/image generation, use an
image-generation service with a documented API. Reserve Brandmark for interactive, one-off branding.
