# FRED series metadata

Call the fred-client package's CLI and relay the returned JSON object. This skill inspects one
known series ID; use search first when the user has only a concept or name.

## Prerequisite

Install fred-client and configure `FRED_API_KEY`, or store the key in
`~/.config/fred-client/credentials.json` as `{"FRED_API_KEY": "..."}`.

## Run

```sh
fred series "<SERIES_ID>"
```

1. Preserve the series ID exactly.
2. Show the metadata fields relevant to the question and retain the exact title, units, frequency,
   seasonal adjustment, and observation dates when present.
3. Use observations when the user wants values or a time series rather than metadata.
4. Relay a nonzero `fred: <message>` error concisely. Do not invent metadata when the series does
   not exist or authentication fails.
