Domino UI Bootstrap

Category: Engineering  ·  Sub-category: frontend  ·  Last updated:
lang:typescripttype:generator
Bootstrap or retrofit a Vite + React 18 + TypeScript project so it uses the Domino design system (`@dominodatalab/extensions-tools`). Scoped to projects that are (or will be) a **fully standalone SPA frontend for a Domino application or extension** — not snippets, library additions, or work inside an existing Domino monorepo package. Use this skill whenever the user wants to create, build, scaffold, start, refactor, retrofit, or set up such an SPA — a React app, web app, frontend, UI, or extension that should "look like Domino", use Domino components, follow the Domino design system, or integrate with the Domino platform — even when they don't say the word "Domino" explicitly but mention Domino-flavored terms like DominoThemeProviderDecorator, extensions-tools, or base-components. Also use when the user points at an existing standalone React/Vite project and asks to make it "Domino-styled", wire it up to the Domino component library, add Domino theming, or migrate it. The skill handles version pinning (React 18, react-router 5), MCP registration for the Storybook component reference, theme provider wiring, and a verification step — all things that are easy to get wrong otherwise.

From the source SKILL.md

This skill makes a project use the Domino design system correctly. It works in three contexts:

What this skill does

Domino UI Bootstrap is a community-contributed Claude Code skill in the frontend sub-category. It ships as a SKILL.md file that Claude Code auto-discovers under ~/.claude/skills/domino-ui-bootstrap/ and loads when your prompt matches the skill's trigger.

When to invoke it: use when the user points at an existing standalone React/Vite project and asks to make it "Domino-styled", wire it up to the Domino component library, add Domino theming, or migrate it. The skill handles version pinning (React 18, react-router 5), MCP registration for the Storybook component reference, theme provider wiring, and a verification step — all things that are easy to get wrong otherwise.

Who uses this skill

The Domino UI Bootstrap Claude Code skill is built for software engineers, backend developers, full-stack teams, and technical leads building and maintaining production systems. It's part of ClaudSkills (also referred to as Claude Skills or Claude Code Skills) — the open community-curated registry of 161,000+ SKILL.md files for Anthropic's Claude Code agent and the wider Claude ecosystem (Claude API, Claude Agent SDK).

When should I use the Domino UI Bootstrap skill?
Use Domino UI Bootstrap when your Claude Code task falls under the Engineering category — specifically in the frontend area. Claude Code auto-discovers installed skills and invokes the right one based on the task description, so you can also ask Claude directly (e.g. "use Domino UI Bootstrap" or describe the task and let Claude pick). Browse related skills at /category/engineering/.
What is a Claude Code skill and how does the Domino UI Bootstrap skill fit in?
A Claude Code skill is a SKILL.md file that lives under ~/.claude/skills/<name>/ and tells the Claude Code CLI agent how to perform a specific task (instructions, prompts, allowed tools).
