Everything that crosses a trust boundary is hostile until proven otherwise. That includes HTTP input, webhooks, message payloads, files, environment-sourced URLs and third-party API responses. The defence has two halves. Validate at the boundary, so malformed input is rejected. Encode or parameterise at every sink, so input that passes validation still cannot change the meaning of SQL, HTML, a shell command or a path. Validation alone never prevents injection (OWASP Input Validation Cheat Sheet; ASVS 5.0 V1 and V2).

What this skill does

Security Input Validation is a community-contributed Claude Code skill in the web-security sub-category. It ships as a SKILL.md file that Claude Code auto-discovers under ~/.claude/skills/security-input-validation/ and loads when your prompt matches the skill's trigger.

When to invoke it: Use when a ticket handles untrusted input — request bodies/params, query strings, headers, uploads, webhooks, or third-party API responses — and it must be validated and safely handled. Invoke for "validate the request", "sanitize user input", "fix the injection/XSS risk", or when adding any boundary that ingests external data.

Who uses this skill

The Security Input Validation Claude Code skill is built for security engineers, penetration testers, DevSecOps practitioners, and development teams hardening codebases and infrastructure. It's part of ClaudSkills (also referred to as Claude Skills or Claude Code Skills) — the open community-curated registry of 213,000+ SKILL.md files for Anthropic's Claude Code agent and the wider Claude ecosystem (Claude API, Claude Agent SDK).
