Synapse Client

Category: Engineering  ·  Sub-category: backend  ·  Last updated:
lang:python
Connect to and operate on any Synapse agent mesh from any agent runtime. A drop-in async Python client (nats-py) plus a bash CLI helper exposing all 6 Synapse primitives (register, discover, request, respond, emit, subscribe) plus heartbeats, durable task polling, chunked file transfer, health probing, and event subscription. Defaults to the local mesh at nats://localhost:4222 (NKey auth, TASK_STORE KV bucket, AGENT_INBOXES JetStream stream, monitoring on :8222, WebSocket on :8443) but accepts arbitrary url/port/auth (NKey/JWT/creds/anonymous) to reach any remote Synapse network. Use whenever an agent needs to discover agents, call agent skills, broadcast or subscribe to events, send files for analysis, or serve requests on the Synapse mesh.

From the source SKILL.md

A single, self-contained skill that lets any agent connect to and fully operate on any Synapse mesh. Provide a URL + port + auth; if none given, it connects to the local mesh running at nats://localhost:4222. Works on macOS, Linux, and Windows (Python client is fully cross-platform; cli.sh runs under Git Bash/WSL and ships a windows command that prints native PowerShell equivalents).

What this skill does

Synapse Client is a community-contributed Claude Code skill in the backend sub-category. It ships as a SKILL.md file that Claude Code auto-discovers under ~/.claude/skills/synapse-client/ and loads when your prompt matches the skill's trigger.

When to invoke it: Use whenever an agent needs to discover agents, call agent skills, broadcast or subscribe to events, send files for analysis, or serve requests on the Synapse mesh.

Who uses this skill

The Synapse Client Claude Code skill is built for software engineers, backend developers, full-stack teams, and technical leads building and maintaining production systems. It's part of ClaudSkills (also referred to as Claude Skills or Claude Code Skills) — the open community-curated registry of 191,000+ SKILL.md files for Anthropic's Claude Code agent and the wider Claude ecosystem (Claude API, Claude Agent SDK).

When should I use the Synapse Client skill?
Use Synapse Client when your Claude Code task falls under the Engineering category — specifically in the backend area. Claude Code auto-discovers installed skills and invokes the right one based on the task description, so you can also ask Claude directly (e.g. "use Synapse Client" or describe the task and let Claude pick). Browse related skills at /category/engineering/.
What is a Claude Code skill and how does the Synapse Client skill fit in?
A Claude Code skill is a SKILL.md file that lives under ~/.claude/skills/<name>/ and tells the Claude Code CLI agent how to perform a specific task (instructions, prompts, allowed tools).
