Tensor Grep Research Methodology

Use when you have a hunch, a candidate optimization, a novel technique, or an "I think X is faster/better/possible" idea for tensor-grep and must turn it into an ACCEPTED result or a DOCUMENTED RETIREMENT — the research discipline. Covers the evidence bar (one mechanism must explain every observation INCLUDING the negatives, and survive an assigned adversarial refutation whose every claim cites file:line), predicting the number + noise band BEFORE you run, the idea lifecycle (experimental default-OFF -> dogfood/benchmark -> council-verify -> conscious flag-flip to adopted OR retirement recorded in docs/PAPER.md so it is never retried), verifying an AI-drafted plan against real code, and where good ideas actually come from. This is the how-do-we-know-it-is-true runbook — the scientific method for tensor-grep. It answers a different question than its siblings: not "is this change allowed?" (that is tensor-grep-change-control) and not "what should we work on?" (that is tensor-grep-research-frontier), but "what has to be true before a hunch is allowed to be called a result — and what do we do with the hunch when it loses?"

What this skill does

Tensor Grep Research Methodology is a community-contributed Claude Code skill in the research-methods sub-category. It ships as a SKILL.md file that Claude Code auto-discovers under ~/.claude/skills/tensor-grep-research-methodology/ and loads when your prompt matches the skill's trigger.

When to invoke it: Use when you have a hunch, a candidate optimization, a novel technique, or an "I think X is faster/better/possible" idea for tensor-grep and must turn it into an ACCEPTED result or a DOCUMENTED RETIREMENT — the research discipline. Covers the evidence bar (one mechanism must explain every observation INCLUDING the negatives, and survive an assigned adversarial refutation whose every claim cites file:line), predicting the number + noise band BEFORE you run, the idea lifecycle (experimental default-OFF -> dogfood/benchmark -> council-verify -> conscious flag-flip to adopted OR retirement recorded in docs/PAPER.

Who uses this skill

The Tensor Grep Research Methodology Claude Code skill is built for researchers, data scientists, academics, and analysts working with complex data and scientific literature. It's part of ClaudSkills (also referred to as Claude Skills or Claude Code Skills) — the open community-curated registry of 161,000+ SKILL.md files for Anthropic's Claude Code agent and the wider Claude ecosystem (Claude API, Claude Agent SDK).

Frequently asked questions

How do I install the Tensor Grep Research Methodology Claude Code skill?
Install via the ClaudSkills desktop app (one click) or copy SKILL.md from the source repository to ~/.claude/skills/tensor-grep-research-methodology/SKILL.md and restart Claude Code. Both flows are detailed at claudskills.com/install/.
What does the Tensor Grep Research Methodology skill do?
The scientific-method META sibling to change-control (gates) and research-frontier (targets).
Is this skill free to install?
Yes. ClaudSkills is an open registry — every skill keeps its source repository's license, and manual install via copy is free. ClaudSkills Pro ($9/mo, $79/yr, or $149 one-time) adds one-click install via the desktop app and a multi-signal Quality Score.
When should I use the Tensor Grep Research Methodology skill?
Use Tensor Grep Research Methodology when your Claude Code task falls under the Science & Research category — specifically in the research methods area. Claude Code auto-discovers installed skills and invokes the right one based on the task description, so you can also ask Claude directly (e.g. "use Tensor Grep Research Methodology" or describe the task and let Claude pick). Browse related skills at /category/science/.
What is a Claude Code skill and how does the Tensor Grep Research Methodology skill fit in?
A Claude Code skill is a SKILL.md file that lives under ~/.claude/skills/<name>/ and tells the Claude Code CLI agent how to perform a specific task (instructions, prompts, allowed tools). Skills are auto-discovered at session start. Tensor Grep Research Methodology is one of 67,000+ skills indexed in the open ClaudSkills catalog, classified under the Science & Research category.
