Trajectory Design

Direct role-archetype mapping, optionality architecture, IDPs and OKRs, skill-gap analysis, and pivot sequencing to the appropriate specialist skill. Activate when the user is making or remaking the underlying choice of *what career to build* — picking a target role archetype, designing optionality, setting personal OKRs, naming skill gaps, sequencing a multi-year pivot. Most career problems are not execution problems — they are trajectory problems mistaken for execution problems. The resume is being rewritten over and over because the role-archetype is not yet named. The networking is feeling unproductive because the ecosystem map is unclear. The interview prep is anxious because the candidate is not sure which role they are auditioning for. Trajectory design is where Mentor starts when the user is unsure, and where Mentor returns when downstream work feels chronically unsettled.

What this skill does

Trajectory Design is a community-contributed Claude Code skill in the architecture sub-category. It ships as a SKILL.md file that Claude Code auto-discovers under ~/.claude/skills/trajectory-design/ and loads when your prompt matches the skill's trigger.

Who uses this skill

The Trajectory Design Claude Code skill is built for software engineers, backend developers, full-stack teams, and technical leads building and maintaining production systems. It's part of ClaudSkills (also referred to as Claude Skills or Claude Code Skills) — the open community-curated registry of 168,000+ SKILL.md files for Anthropic's Claude Code agent and the wider Claude ecosystem (Claude API, Claude Agent SDK).
