Advisory

Category: Security  ·  Sub-category: web-security  ·  Last updated:
ai:agenttype:scanner
Route a free-text agent-skill security finding to the one OWASP AST01-AST10 category that owns its root cause, separate that origin from the contributing control failures that co-fired with it, and hand off to that category's skill with an honest statement of what a check there can and cannot confirm. Use when a finding arrives as prose rather than as a package to scan, when two AST categories both plausibly fit, when a scanner gap and a payload appear in the same report, when a finding names a symptom louder than its cause, when the artifact a finding is about may not be a skill at all, or when you need to know whether the category you are about to route to ships any check at all.

From the source SKILL.md

Pattern: Process. A scope gate, then three phases - name the origin, resolve the co-fires, hand off - at medium freedom, with the two halves of that freedom named below. Deliberately not Navigation, despite this being a router: a ten-row table of links is what this file used to be, and a table of links cannot answer the only question that is ever hard here.

What this skill does

Advisory is a community-contributed Claude Code skill in the web-security sub-category. It ships as a SKILL.md file that Claude Code auto-discovers under ~/.claude/skills/advisory/ and loads when your prompt matches the skill's trigger.

When to invoke it: Use when a finding arrives as prose rather than as a package to scan, when two AST categories both plausibly fit, when a scanner gap and a payload appear in the same report, when a finding names a symptom louder than its cause, when the artifact a finding is about may not be a skill at all, or when you need to know whether the category you are about to route to ships any check at all.

Who uses this skill

The Advisory Claude Code skill is built for security engineers, penetration testers, DevSecOps practitioners, and development teams hardening codebases and infrastructure. It's part of ClaudSkills (also referred to as Claude Skills or Claude Code Skills) — the open community-curated registry of 213,000+ SKILL.md files for Anthropic's Claude Code agent and the wider Claude ecosystem (Claude API, Claude Agent SDK).

When should I use the Advisory skill?
Use Advisory when your Claude Code task falls under the Security category — specifically in the web security area. What is a Claude Code skill and how does the Advisory skill fit in?
A Claude Code skill is a SKILL.md file that lives under ~/.claude/skills/<name>/ and tells the Claude Code CLI agent how to perform a specific task (instructions, prompts, allowed tools). Skills are auto-discovered at session start. Advisory is one of 67,000+ skills indexed in the open ClaudSkills catalog, classified under the Security category.
