User Orient

Category: General  ·  Sub-category: general-misc  ·  Last updated:
Re-orient the user on the session axis — the state of this conversation/thread — via a status snapshot (verified, not-verified, next steps) plus parallel asides; `--quick` skips all lookups and gives a lightweight three-section thread summary (problem, what we tried, what's left). Use when the user asks "where are we", "what's the status", "remind me what we were doing", "what were we doing", or just wants a quick reminder of the working thread. For project-axis state (a project's plan+git-derived shipped / planned / next / cuttable), use user-pm.

From the source SKILL.md

This skill produces a status snapshot for a user returning mid-session. Read-only by default; does not mutate memory, plans, or code. Two modes: full (default — Steps 1-2 below) and --quick (a no-lookups three-section thread summary — see "Quick mode" below; for in-flow check-ins, not post-gap re-orientation).

What this skill does

User Orient is a community-contributed Claude Code skill in the general-misc sub-category. It ships as a SKILL.md file that Claude Code auto-discovers under ~/.claude/skills/user-orient/ and loads when your prompt matches the skill's trigger.

When to invoke it: Use when the user asks "where are we", "what's the status", "remind me what we were doing", "what were we doing", or just wants a quick reminder of the working thread. For project-axis state (a project's plan+git-derived shipped / planned / next / cuttable), use user-pm.
