Cross Agent Filesystem Exchange
This skill should be used when building or debugging a file-based mailbox channel between Claude Code and another self-hosted agent on the same host (OpenClaw/Olu, Hermes/Chuka, or a future one) — one-way inboxes, numbered entry files, per-side STATE.md, an auto-archive/notify timer, and a self-initiated polling mechanism so the other agent picks up new messages without Will manually relaying them. Built and verified twice with reconciled differences: `dfw` (Claude Code <-> Olu/OpenClaw, 2026-08-23, several real bugs found and fixed) and `hermes` (Claude Code <-> Chuka/Hermes, 2026-09-01, ported the settled dfw design plus native monitor-script polling). Trigger phrases include "agent exchange channel", "agent mailbox", "cross-agent filesystem channel", "to-claude inbox", "STATE.md status done", "auto-archive both sides done", "hermes cron monitor-script", "monitor output unchanged suppressing agent run", "no systemd sandbox one-way boundary", "ProtectSystem ReadWritePaths ping-pong channel", "agent polling cron blind spot", "second agent mailbox".

From the source SKILL.md
A file-based mailbox so Claude Code and another self-hosted agent on the same box can hand off structured work without Will manually copy-pasting between sessions. Built twice with the same core shape and real, reconciled differences — this skill exists so a third build doesn't have to re-derive either the stable core or the per-host judgment calls.
What this skill does
Cross Agent Filesystem Exchange is a community-contributed Claude Code skill in the engineering-misc sub-category. It ships as a SKILL.md file that Claude Code auto-discovers under ~/.claude/skills/cross-agent-filesystem-exchange/ and loads when your prompt matches the skill's trigger.
Who uses this skill
The Cross Agent Filesystem Exchange Claude Code skill is built for software engineers, backend developers, full-stack teams, and technical leads building and maintaining production systems. It's part of ClaudSkills (also referred to as Claude Skills or Claude Code Skills) — the open community-curated registry of 211,000+ SKILL.md files for Anthropic's Claude Code agent and the wider Claude ecosystem (Claude API, Claude Agent SDK).
